When Wynton burst onto the classical music scene in the mid-to-late 80's, it was a pivital moment in the lives of many musicians.  Compact disks had just been invented, and hearing music (not this recording) recorded, mastered, and reproduced in an all-digital format was groundbreaking and inspiring to thousands of young musicians, including myself.  I remember listening to Dad's Curtis Mathis system with the lights out, so that I could focus ALL of my attention on every note.
